nothing going on but the rent..

Hmm, trying really hard not to drop this blog, but not doing the best job of it. I've been putting up the occasional blog entry over at my last.fm profile, which seems the best spot for music related posts.

I figured this could be my blog space for label type activites and gigs, a sorta behingd the scenes of the label, type thing, but theres a lot of crossover between whats actually put up on the site at Highpoint Lowlife and what i post at last.fm.

Lately on the label front, we've been super busy sending off promo packs for this summers upcoming festival, and should hopefully have a few of our artists playing some good shows.

We're putting on the first of our Not Clickable shows this year, its going to be a nice special show for Shane Marshall Watson's debut UK show, which I'm exceptionally excited about. The lineup for the evening will be Marshall Watson, Stendec and Calika. Again, more details over at highpointlowlife.com tho..

Me, Keung and Mat were out to see Earth and Sun O))) this past friday night which was quite a good night out. Earth were much better than when i saw them supporting Autechre a few months back; probably not even any better, but made more sense in the context it was in, just like super-slowed-down-Heroin-blues-doom-rock. Sun O))) who I was quite excited about seeing for a second time were pretty good also, although i have to say their opening 5 minutes was the best thing about the show. I'm not sure if the bass noise was coming from something their sound engineer was playing through the desk or whether it was the work of Oren Ambarchi, but it was just an amazingly fat wall of bass. At this point i couldnt see anything as the venue is shit (Carling Academy Islington), but then the crowd started cheering so obviously there couldnt have been anyone too obviously on stage. The rest of their show was the same, its all just one song, which was an amazing experience the first time i saw them, but this second time it was only ok. Its really sonic art theatre, which is cool as long as you play along and buy into the whole druid schtick, but especially when you can't see it just gets a bit long in the tooth.

After that, me and Mat headed down to Resonance FM for our regular Small Pieces show which went really well also, but that was probably just due to the fact we'd been drinking all evening!
