me grains and belly aches

Well, Jandek show last night went really well. It was an awesome venue, St Giles church, just behind the Resonance FM studios. The guy was very timid and slowly made his way onto stage, trying to calm his shaking hands, the brim of his hat allowing him to hide his eyes from the crowd. No words of introduction of formalities, he just slowly checked his guitar was in tune, carefully turned the pages of his open note book, and launched into performance. Its weirdly amatuerish at points , with no melody to the vocal delivery, very sombre and almost spoken-word like delivery, strange tunings to his guitar and seemingly random strumming, but then with enough moments of genius to bring you back into it. I'm still not convinced that theres not an element of the Kings New Clothes to his music, but i enjoyed it a lot, and the music world needs and loves characters this quirky and eccentric!
